Possibly the most highly anticipated continuation of a franchise in the history of film: the new Star Wars trailer almost broke the internet.
As millions return to a galaxy far, far away, widespread speculation continues: Who is the chrome stormtropper? Since when are double-edged lightsabers a thing? and finally: How old is Chewbacca?
The trailer brought tears, gasps, and endless nostalgia. Appearances are made by Han Solo, Chewy, the Millenium Falcon and what appears to be Luke Skywalker’s severed robot hand.
Overall, the fan base reaction has consisted of nothing but awe-stuck, teary eyed excitement.
As a franchise that has several generations of followers, it was very important that the Seventh Episode in the epic saga paid tribute to the Star Wars tradition. Including a number of the original cast members, especially Harrison Ford as Han Solo, struck a unanimous chord of nostalgia with the entire Star Wars fan base.
When George Lucas ended the saga with Revenge of the Sith, few expected the series to continue. The excitement that surrounded this trailer is due to the fact that many believed the story was over. However, the fan base has been hanging on to the hope of a new episode for many years.
Director J.J. Abrams is bringing that hope back to life, and the stunning trailer serves as a promise for a spectacular journey ahead.
The release date is set for December 18th, 2015, which can’t come soon enough for Star Wars fans.
